David G. Bostwick, an M.D., M.B.A., and F.C.A.P., is a distinguished medical professional and entrepreneur with a remarkable career in pathology, diagnostics, and healthcare management. With extensive experience in both clinical practice and corporate leadership, Dr. Bostwick has made significant contributions to the medical field and healthcare business.
Dr. Bostwick currently serves as the CEO of Triopsy Inc., the Chief Medical Officer and Laboratory Director at Granger Genetics, and the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager at Rampart Health. His leadership in these roles underscores his commitment to advancing medical diagnostics and innovative healthcare solutions.
Dr. Bostwick began his management career as Chief of Pathology at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore from 1986 to 1991. He managed a full-service medical diagnostic laboratory with 120 employees in a 300-bed inner-city hospital affiliated with the University of Maryland. His ability to manage a large team and oversee complex laboratory operations set the foundation for his future entrepreneurial ventures.
In 1999, Dr. Bostwick founded Bostwick Laboratories in Richmond, VA. As the CEO and CMO, he grew the company from scratch to a revenue of $178 million with over 1,200 employees and six locations in the U.S. and U.K. The company was sold to private equity group Metalmark in 2011. Dr. Bostwick rejoined the company in 2016 to facilitate its merger with Poplar Healthcare.
In 2013, he founded Granger Genetics, focusing on novel companion diagnostics for childhood leukemia. He later established a subsidiary, Granger Pharmacy, a sterile hazardous compounding pharmacy, in 2020. Dr. Bostwick’s innovative approach to diagnostics and pharmacy services has positioned Granger Genetics as a leader in this field.
Dr. Bostwick founded Rampart Health in 2018, based in Orlando, FL. Under his leadership, the company completed FDA-cleared phase II clinical trials for a first-in-human multiplex combination immunotherapy for metastatic and all solid cancers in 2023.
Apart from his professional accolades, Dr. Bostwick is also a great academician. His academic appointments include positions at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University Medical Center, The University of Chicago Hospitals & Clinics, and the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Medical School. He has held roles ranging from Assistant Professor of Pathology to Consultant and Professor of Pathology and Urology, contributing significantly to medical education and research.
Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Dr. Bostwick has been recognized with numerous honors and awards. He was listed in “America’s Top Doctors” by Castle Connolly Guide from 2002 to 2017 and “America’s Top Doctors for Cancer” from 2005 to 2017. He received the 21st Century Award for Achievement from the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, in 2006 and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Healthcare Division in 2009.
Dr. Bostwick has served on various national grant review panels, study sections, and committees. His roles have included membership on the Medical Executive Committee at Mercy Medical Center, State Commissioner of Maryland for the Laboratory Accreditation Program of the College of American Pathologists, and Chairman of the Prostate Cancer Task Force of the American Cancer Society. He also founded the Journal of Urologic Pathology, serving as its Editor-in-Chief and later Editor Emeritus.
Dr. Bostwick has maintained a private practice of pathology through Bostwick Laboratories, Granger Genetics, Poplar Healthcare, and Triopsy Medical, LLC. His extensive experience in both clinical and corporate settings has enabled him to bridge the gap between medical practice and healthcare innovation effectively.
